The Lucado Inspirational Reader

This book was, as it was intended to be, very encouraging and inspirational. It was convenient to read in small snippets, but also flowed smoothly when I had time to read more. Having read it, I have fresh interest in reading the author's other works from which these pieces were pulled. What I loved about this book was that it encompasses all of the best things that Lucado has shared over the last 25 years into one volume. From topics such as: Worship, Evangelism, the Cross, and Creation to Hope, Heaven Miracles and God's Grace you are brought into the Word of God and allowed to explore. This book would make an awesome Christmas gift for someone on your list.

Your 100 Day Prayer

Your 100 Day Prayer is a guide for your own one hundred days. Each entry begins with a passage of Scripture and ends with preparation for prayer for that day. After your prayer, you can enter your thoughts and any notes you may have. The book is organized like a Bible study or devotional and requires the reader to put in a good amount of effort to get the most out of the process. So long as the reader has at least 10 minutes each day to do this, this is a tangible, meaningful way to develop your faith. The book contains four main chapters with each consisting of 25 days' worth of reading. The chapter titles are as follows:

1. Introduction - introduction to the book and thoughts on what it means to wait on the Lord.

2. The Power of Persistence - we must continue to seek, knock, and ask for God's guidance and wisdom in our journey of waiting.

3. The Silent Heaven - Don't just pray once about something, keep going to God about it and see what He says. Keep waiting even when He appears to be silent.

4. When God Says No - God only wants the best for us and sometimes that may mean He says no to our prayer request. Instead, He has something even better for us! We must trust Him by faith.

Invasion

With Invasion Christian author Jon S. Lewis presents an adventurous science fiction novel in the first installment of his A C.H.A.O.S. Novel series.
What starts off with the death of Colt McAlister's parents in a car accident, soon develops into a fast paced story with a thrilling premise of conspiracy theory meets alien invasion. Together with his friends Dani and Oz, Colt soon finds out that this accident was actual murder and that there is still more at risk than the world could possibly imagine, because the invasion already started.
This book offers not only likable and well devised characters - especially the glimpse you get into Colt's emotional state after his parent's death is very well written - but the reader is also supplied with a lot of stunning action scenes and fun dialogues. And while there is a bit of a love story included too, it certainly doesn't get in the way of the main thing - an action packed plot.
Last but not least - written by a Christian author, the book does not fall into the category of Christian literature, with only few mentions of bible studies or going to church throughout the story.
While many YA books can be read by adults too, and I admittedly really liked this novel, I recommend it mostly for a younger audience.
In short: An enjoyable read with science fiction elements for everyone who likes action packed stories!
