The Lucado Inspirational Reader

This book was, as it was intended to be, very encouraging and inspirational. It was convenient to read in small snippets, but also flowed smoothly when I had time to read more. Having read it, I have fresh interest in reading the author's other works from which these pieces were pulled. What I loved about this book was that it encompasses all of the best things that Lucado has shared over the last 25 years into one volume. From topics such as: Worship, Evangelism, the Cross, and Creation to Hope, Heaven Miracles and God's Grace you are brought into the Word of God and allowed to explore. This book would make an awesome Christmas gift for someone on your list.

Your 100 Day Prayer

Your 100 Day Prayer is a guide for your own one hundred days. Each entry begins with a passage of Scripture and ends with preparation for prayer for that day. After your prayer, you can enter your thoughts and any notes you may have. The book is organized like a Bible study or devotional and requires the reader to put in a good amount of effort to get the most out of the process. So long as the reader has at least 10 minutes each day to do this, this is a tangible, meaningful way to develop your faith. The book contains four main chapters with each consisting of 25 days' worth of reading. The chapter titles are as follows:

1. Introduction - introduction to the book and thoughts on what it means to wait on the Lord.

2. The Power of Persistence - we must continue to seek, knock, and ask for God's guidance and wisdom in our journey of waiting.

3. The Silent Heaven - Don't just pray once about something, keep going to God about it and see what He says. Keep waiting even when He appears to be silent.

4. When God Says No - God only wants the best for us and sometimes that may mean He says no to our prayer request. Instead, He has something even better for us! We must trust Him by faith.

Invasion

With Invasion Christian author Jon S. Lewis presents an adventurous science fiction novel in the first installment of his A C.H.A.O.S. Novel series.
What starts off with the death of Colt McAlister's parents in a car accident, soon develops into a fast paced story with a thrilling premise of conspiracy theory meets alien invasion. Together with his friends Dani and Oz, Colt soon finds out that this accident was actual murder and that there is still more at risk than the world could possibly imagine, because the invasion already started.
This book offers not only likable and well devised characters - especially the glimpse you get into Colt's emotional state after his parent's death is very well written - but the reader is also supplied with a lot of stunning action scenes and fun dialogues. And while there is a bit of a love story included too, it certainly doesn't get in the way of the main thing - an action packed plot.
Last but not least - written by a Christian author, the book does not fall into the category of Christian literature, with only few mentions of bible studies or going to church throughout the story.
While many YA books can be read by adults too, and I admittedly really liked this novel, I recommend it mostly for a younger audience.
In short: An enjoyable read with science fiction elements for everyone who likes action packed stories!

Heaven is For Real

Ever since this book came out I was highly skeptical of the contents. I am not skeptical of Heaven, I know it's for real and believe every word said about Heaven in the Bible. So I don't need "first hand accounts" to convince me of what I already know to be true. I did finally decide to read the book simply out of my own curiosity since it's been on the best sellers lists for quite some time now. I have to say even though I find some details of the account to warrent skepticism themselves, for example Colton given future revelation about the battle of arrmegeddon. We know this battle will take place but we are also warned against adding to or removing things in scripture. So I don't see how it is biblical that God would give him details if it contridicts scripture. I did foind the story heart-warming and an easy to read story. It's not a hard book to get through and I appreciate openness the family has in this book with the details of their lives.

Jesus Calling Devotional Bible

This devotional bible couples the New King James Version Bible with over 200 of Sarah Youngs writings. It is filled with prayer and devotionals from, Sarah's early devotionals. This Bible includes an index to subjects you want to read about or what your going through. This devotional bible has a beautiful padded cover and the inside pages are beautifully decorated, but not overly so. The artwork really compliments the bible. If you are a fan of Sarah Young you will be very pleased with bible.

The Grace of God

Andy tackles the topic of Grace in this book. With 13 chapters he starts from the beginning of the bible. Andy takes the reader on a journey through scripture by highlighting well-known stories and points out God's grace. Stanley delivers his typically engaging content, while maintaining his approachable style. Stanley is also a master at pulling out the pearl of a passage. He by-passes a lot of good stuff. Instead, he focuses on the best. A good principle to live by. With grace, comes faith. Such a strong statement in such a uncertain world. Believe.

With

With (great title) by Skye Jethani, the editor of Leadership Journal, is a book about discovering how we relate to God. He spends a chapter each discussing what it means to live 1. Life over God, 2. Life under God, 3. Life from God, 4. Life for God, 5. Life with God.Jethani concludes that the only preposition fitting the Biblical worldview is life "with God." Life with God depends on a right understanding of grace, recognizing that we can do nothing to make God love us more or less, and that his greatest desire is to be in relationship with his people. Jethani's focus is on Christians' views of God and the all too common experience of a faith that leaves us feeling more afraid and frustrated than feeling alive. In the pages of With you will find a well written, poignant, and powerful call to the true center of our faith and our lives: God Himself. You will be reminded that above all things, we seek union with Christ, and that every time we place some goal, desire, end, or thing higher in our hearts than God we have created an idol, no matter how good that thing is when it is rightly desired.

Don't Check Your Brains At The Door

This book can be used for personal growth, and the questions/references at the end of each chapter make it a useful tool for youth groups. This is a good reference book for those interested in offering truth to people who present you with questions about the Bible, God, Jesus, and other such areas of the Christian faith. This book approaches many of the doubts that Christians may have, as well as many of the questions that non-Christians may have. It is in an easy-to-read, amusing format. I am 13 and I love this book because it is so entertaining, and faith building at the same time. I recommend this book to all teens that struggle with myths about the Bible and their faith.

How to be God's Little Princess

How to be God’s Little Princess by Sheila Walsh is a great little book for any little girl who wants to learn how to behave like a young lady and bring glory to God. This little pink book contains tips for manners, etiquette and true beauty.  Inside this book you will find tips on subjects such as: how to wear a tiara, royal table manners, the importance of dressing for the occasion, internet do’s and don’ts, hosting the perfect party, regal posture and poise, and how to pen the perfect thank-you note.  So many girls these days don’t know the first thing about what it means to be a real lady and Shiela Walsh brings it all back in this fun little book. This book doesn’t just contain lists of do’s and don’ts but includes fun crafts, activities and quizzes all designed to emphasize the lessons inside. The illustrations inside are attractive and delightful for any young girl. I can see how this book would be designed with little girls in mind, however I am 13 and enjoy this book a lot myself. My sister and I are enjoying going through this book together and learning how to be God’s little princesses!

This Post Is All Pink For Amanda

Jesus says to L♥VE one another. Today the youth group went to FREDRIKA MANOR today, which was SUPER fun. We got paint the ladies nails. Today I met a lady named Amanda. She was sooooo sweet. I painted her nails BUBBLEGUM PINK. I did a horrible job by the way, but she said they were so beautiful. When i was done, we talked but she didn't say much. She looked at me and SMILED almost the whole time. Anyways, we didn't talk so we went on a walk, (technically I was the only one walking), so thats when she starts to talk. She said her favorite color is PINK which was obvious because she was wearing a PINK jump suit, PINK nail polish by me, and she wanted some PINK flowers that were in the garden. Then it was time to go back inside to get ready to leave I asked if she had any children. She said no but she always wanted some. When we got back inside it was time for me to go. I almost didn't want to, then I said to myself that I would be coming back and Amanda said she couldn't wait until then. I'm really attached to her. I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE AMANDA AGAIN!!!!!!!!!

Trusting Jesus

This is my first post. I don't really how to blog, so whatever comes to my heart, I will follow it and write about it. Just to let you know, I write with multiple colors to express how I feel. So. I think I'll begin by saying my favorite verses of the BIBLE. I say that when you are feeling ANGRY, SAD, or even when you are feeling HAPPY, to read the BIBLE. Trust in Him. Here is a verse:
"God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear , though the earth be removed and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea."
Jesus, help us to know to trust you and to know you are there for us no matter what. Jesus, be there for us through thick and thin. AMEN ♥♥♥♥♥
